Hi everybody,

Sorry I haven’t written in awhile, but on October 27th, I had some major and long overdue back surgery. The operation went well, and I am home after a week in the hospital. I’m starting on a slow recuperation, and worst of all, I can’t even knit. By the way, all the doctors in the hospital (including mine) were incredibly handsome. I thought I was watching an episode of General Hospital.

I haven’t blogged because pain killers have got me a little loopier than I usually am, but I just wanted to thank my relatives, friends, associates and readers for their good wishes and gifts of flowers, books, chocolate and handknit gifts. As you can see from above, I am a very lucky girl!

I think I will be able to blog rationally in a week and will tell you all about the big stitching show in London and my vacation in Paris. Hope you got to see my calendar and book display at Barnes & Noble. My new book Knitting On Top Of The World was just released and is doing very well (even beyond our expectations)—thanks to you. And, though my body is working a little more slowly, I know I’m getting better because my mind is racing with thoughts of new projects, books and travels. Got to go now…Nurse Nell (my husband) says it’s time for my medication (he looks cute in his little nurse’s cap and apron).

Thanks, Nicky
