October 9, 2008

Oh my goodness, what a fun and exciting month. I am all a-twitter that Barnes & Noble is releasing an exclusive, “A 2009 Nicky Epstein Engagement Calendar” featuring 26 of some of my most popular knit, crochet and felted flower designs with instructions. They did a beautiful job putting it together and it’s actually an engagement calendar and knitting book all in one. They also made a Nicky Epstein yarn gauge/bookmark, and both items will be available in the stores and online. And…if you get to one of their stores in October, you’ll see an endcap (table) of my own, to celebrate the release of my newest and most ambitious book “Knitting On Top Of The World”.

I’ll be away most of the month and may not get to see it. I am going to be at the fantastic “Knitting and Stitching Show” at the Alexandra Palace, just outside London, Oct 9-12, and then chunneling it to Paris for book signings (some of my books are printed in French, merci beaucoup) at yarn shops, and for the pate, duck confit, crème brulee, a little wine, a few museums, shopping and hopefully, some relaxation.

We just finished the cover of my “Knitting In Tuscany” book, that is due for a Spring ’09 release. I’ve included some family Italian recipes in the book and needed to “test kitchen” them before printing, so we had a “Tuscany Day” luncheon at my apartment in New York. My fabulous editor Wendy Williams showed up at 9 a.m. and together we managed to prepare five dishes. At noon several people from the publishing firm came to sample the dishes. We had Italian music and wine to go with the food and the consensus was that everything was delicioso. We tasted the dishes before the six bottles of wine and half a bottle of Limoncello, so that it would not influence our opinion. This is the kind of editorial research that we all like!

If you get to a Barnes & Noble near you to see my display, let me know what you think.

Au revoir!

Nicky
