Back to work!

Living Crafts Magazine offered me an assignment to create two knitted farm mats for their fall issue. They said I could keep it simple and easy and it sounded like fun. Well, since my motto is “Anything worth doing is worth overdoing” I threw myself into it. Now, some twenty-seven wee pumpkins, five wee sheep, three wee trees, two fences…you get the picture…lots of little knitting. I’m telling you—I was knitting tiny pumpkins in my sleep.  I used pipe cleaners to make the sheep’s legs, and to make the fences, I stole some straws (to put into I-cord) from a local fast food chain, and thank goodness they worked. A friend suggested that I just use cotton balls and squiggly eyes for the sheep!

Next on my agenda was a tushy cushy pillow for knitty.com. It took a lot longer than I thought, not so much for the knitting, but trying to figure out how to shape it tastefully. The instructions will be on knitty.com soon, and how much poly-fil you use to stuff your tushy cushy is strictly between you and your conscience—no ifs, ands or butts about it!

Normally these projects would have been a breeze for me, but I am on a strict, doctor’s orders diet, that has left me ready to chew my arm off (and it’s difficult to knit with one arm), so it’s been a little stressful. No pasta, nothing white, and worst of all—no chocolate! But I’ve lost ten pounds in two weeks. I tell myself that chocolate looks like poopy, and that has helped. Next up for me are a few children’s pieces for Knit Simple Magazine.

Keep in touch, and if you need to know how to knit a wee little pumpkin…I’m your girl!
