We shot the photos for my new book (Spring 2014–Potter Craft. Penguin/Random House) at the lovely Grey Gardens in Mlford,Pa…We shot for 3 days in 90 plus degree weather, but with amazing photographer Rose Callahan and her fantastic crew, a great support team from the publisher, two uncomplaining models, we got beautiful and fufilling results. The gracious people at Grey Towers were wonderful and my friend Diane helped while she was amazed at how much work went into photographing a book….Howie barbecued hot dogs and hamburgers for us all at our log house in Milford, and we even managed to include our 1937 Jaguar replica in some of the shots (more about that later). It was hard work but lots of fun.
Last weekend I had a great time in Nashville as guest teacher at my pal Debbie Macomber’s Fan Retreat.
Over 400 of her adoring fans had a wonderful weekend and I was very gratified at the large turnout for my class and book signings. I had lots of fun and ate lots of good southern cooking.I even got a hug from an Elvis lookalike. The Opryland Hotel was amazing–Thanks for inviting me Deb!
I am gratfully happy to report that my new book Nicky Epstein Knits For Dolls is selling very well and am getting lovely comments from old and young. In September my Crochet For Dolls book, with all new original outfits will be released by Sixth & Spring Publishers
A mother robin gave birth to 3 babies on our front porch in Milford, but just down the road at our friends Ann & George’s house, a “different bird” wound up in the tree next to their porch.
Leaving next week to host the Vogue Knitting Tour of Scotland & Iceland and I’m very excited..I’ve been to Scotland before and love it, but I’ve never been to Iceland but have heard nothing but great things about it…both great knitting destinations–Carla Scott of VK will be co-hosting and we’ve got two secret celebities(my lips are sealed), who are coming along–My personal Scotch Whiskey taster Howie MacEpstein will also be joining us.
Reservations are coming in for my own Knitting Trip to Barcelona and the Costa Brava in Spain, next May—It’s going to be an amazing trip, but there are only a few openings still available–If you’re interested, go to TravelingTogether.net and click on Nicky Epstein for details
